Matthew 25

Warren Wilson Presbyterian Church has declared itself to be a Matthew 25 church.

Matthew 25 is a denominational initiative focused on helping the Presbyterian Church (USA) become a more relevant presence in the world. We recognize Christ’s urgent call to be a church of action, where God’s love, justice and mercy shine forth and are contagious.

The initiative takes its name from a passage in Matthew 25, in which Jesus instructs his followers to act boldly and compassionately to serve people who are hungry, oppressed, imprisoned or poor.

Individual congregations are invited to engage in one or more of the three main goals of Matthew 25:
– Dismantling structural racism
– Eradicating systemic poverty
– Building congregational vitality
