Hope
Written by Edythe Wiener
Hope…What a grand word that is.
I think that life and hope are thoroughly intertwined.
Our life needs hope to survive. For without it, living can become dismal and even desperate.
We tend to trivialize the word hope and use it by habit much of the time….
I hope it doesn’t rain today…as I dislike doing errands in the rain…
I sure hope our mailman delivers the mail early today for a change…at least before dawn.
Real hope is far more than that. In our confused and even frightening world, it is especially needed. Our ability to continue toward hope is surely a gift from God.
To quote the words of one of the churches great hymns, “Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow.”
As we begin this season of Advent, may these life sustaining gifts be part of your life…and mine.
