WELCOME VISITORS If you are worshiping here for the first time today, welcome! We are glad to have you with us. Please fill out a visitor information card, located on the right as you enter the chapel.
OFFERING Plates are available just inside the doors to the chapel as you enter and exit. Our gifts take many forms: open-hearted presence here, voices lifted in song, the prayers that rise in us, the material gifts we share with neighbors, and our willingness to live in a world as allies and advocates for those whose needs are overlooked. The monies we bring symbolize the offering of our lives in all circumstances. A separate labeled basket is available each week to receive Our Daily Change offerings, formerly known as Five Cents a Meal hunger offering.
COMMUNITY JOYS AND CONCERNS: If you would like to add or update a prayer request, please contact the church office (298-9092).

CHOIR RESUMES The choir invites folks who can carry a tune to give Chapel Choir a try. 7:00 Rehearsals begin on Wednesday, September 4 & 11. Service singing begins Sunday, September 15. Give Director Ted Stewart a call, (816) 305-1038, or just show up at rehearsal. We encourage you to share our joy.
MUSIC READING CLASS Want to improve your music reading? Ted is offering two classes that will do just that! On Wednesdays, August 21 and 28 you can work on recognizing and singing the intervals between notes, while gaining confidence in your singing! This is not a choir requirement, or even just for choir members, but an opportunity for anyone who finds music reading something of a mystery. Please let Ted know if you’d like to join and expect to have some fun!
HANDBELLS STARTING SOON! The handbell choir is resuming rehearsals after Labor Day this year with plans to enrich worship through a larger part of the liturgical year in celebration of the refurbishments completed last year. If you have interest in joining, or questions, please contact Natalie Daugherty (336) 413-9071.
WELCOME STUDENTS WORSHIP & POTLUCK SEPT 8! Mark your calendars to be in worship on September 8 as the Spiritual Life Crew of Warren Wilson College will lead us in worship, in collaboration with Shannon Spencer, Chaplain of the College. A similar service in the spring was warmly welcomed by the congregation. We hope to host such services twice a year. Following the service there will be a potluck in the Fellowship Hall to welcome the students! Please bring 1-2 dishes to share with our students and congregation. The students love extras! Beverages will be provided by the Congregational Life Team.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED Greeters will welcome worshipers, offer bulletins and other worship resources to guests, and assist with a brief after-service cleanup of bulletins and hymnals. Liturgists typically lead the Call to Worship, offer the Prayer for Illumination and the First Reading, and lead the Affirmation of Faith. All texts are supplied to readers. Coffee-Hour Hosts make coffee (provided by the church), and put out snacks, juice, and water. (Hosts may choose to use snacks available at the church or bring refreshments to share.) Hosts have access to the parlor kitchen for clean up. Susan Daugherty and members of the Congregation Life Team are available to answer questions or provide assistance. Sign-up sheets are available in the entryway. We’d love to have you participate!
NEWSLETTER It is time to start compiling the next newsletter. If you have anything you’d like to contribute or suggestions on things that should be included, please contact the church office this week.
