Announcements for January 11, 2026

WELCOME VISITORS If you are worshiping here for the first time today, welcome! We are glad to have you with us. Please fill out a visitor information card, located on the right as you enter the chapel, and place it in the offering plate.

OFFERING Plates are just inside the doors to the chapel as you enter and exit. Our gifts take many forms: open-hearted presence here, voices lifted in song, the prayers that rise in us, the material gifts we share with neighbors, and our willingness to live in a world as allies and advocates for those whose needs are overlooked. The monies we bring symbolize the offering of our lives in all circumstances. A separate labeled basket is available each week to receive Our Daily Change offerings.

COMMUNITY JOYS AND CONCERNS: If you would like to add or update a prayer request, please contact the church office.

We celebrate: Donna Eagle Joslin and Sherrie Meehan for planting daffodil bulbs in the Peace Garden which will be a joy to us in the Spring ⸰ The ongoing work of the Pastor Nominating Committee

We remember in prayer:   Betty Siviter healing following cataract surgery ⸰ Blake Joslin, who fell on 12/29 and fractured his right clavicle, now regaining strength at the Laurels ⸰ Mary Fran Spencer home now following a stay at the hospital

MORE HELPERS NEEDED to assist the Habitat for Humanity construction crew build House of Faith #5 in West Asheville. Many spots have been filled by church members, but we still have unfilled half day (8:15 – noon) shifts reserved for this Friday, Jan. 16 (1) and Feb. 27 (3), and full day shifts (8:15 – 3) on Saturday, Jan. 24 (2) and Feb. 7 (1). Work will be indoors in heated spaces, or outdoors if weather permits.  No experience is needed, only a willingness to help. Contact Larry Griswold if you have questions or to sign up.

FELLOWSHIP TIME Thanks to all who hosted our Fellowship Time after each service throughout the year! Your efforts are very much appreciated! If you can host please sign up in the narthex. It’s a great way to help us build community.  If you have questions, please reach out to Susan Daugherty or ask today’s host.

ANNUAL CONGREGATIONAL MEETING will be at the end of worship on Sunday, January 25.  We will receive our Annual Report and our budget for 2026.  In addition, there will be a report from the Pastor Nominating Committee.  Mark your calendars and plan on attending.

INCLEMENT WEATHER As we start the new year, we recognize that adverse weather conditions can make having worship challenging.  On those Sundays where there are changes to worship we will begin using text and/or e-mail to let you know.  If you’re unsure if the church has your updated phone number or e-mail address please contact the church office.
