WONDERFUL WEDNESDAYS—every Wednesday in June, we’ll gather to share a meal, deepen friendships, and learn something new

  • June 19, 5:30 Supper in the fellowship hall—WWC Chaplain Shannon Spencer and other guests will be here to share information about the Inside-Out program, in which Warren Wilson professors teach for-credit classes at the women’s prison in Swannanoa. Students from WWC attend these classes alongside incarcerated women on-site at the correctional facility. The college is now exploring the possibility of bringing formerly incarcerated women to campus as full-time residential students. Our congregation could offer practical support and friendship to those new students, if this program comes to fruition.
  • June 26, 5:30 Supper in the fellowship hall—Savanna Craig from SVCM will educate us about new areas of ministry being undertaken by SVCM.

THE PRESBYTERY OF WESTERN NORTH CAROLINA has $500 scholarships available for Camp Grier this summer. If you know
any child or youth who might be interested in attending, have them contact Beth Gunn, (beth.gunn@gmail.com, 828-329-9209).

CELEBRATE THE 90s WITH US As Jackie Wintle marks the beginning of her own 9th decade, she will be hosting a celebration honoring all in our community who have crossed that threshold! Please stay after church on Sunday, June 23, for gourmet cupcakes and lots of laughter. Honorees include Ernst Laursen, Beverly Ohler, Olivia
LaMotte, John LaMotte, Jackie Wintle, and Billy Ed Wheeler. Please let us know who else needs to be on that list.

“THE CHURCH’S SONG: MUSIC IN THE LIFE OF FAITH” How do music and singing shape our life and worship and invite us to listen to and pray for the world?” Join Eric Wall on Sunday evening, June 23 at 6:00 for an engaging hour of singing and conversation. Eric is Associate Professor of Sacred Music, and Dean of the Chapel at Austin
Seminary. He also is the Conference Center Musician in Montreat, leading worship there each summer. Much appreciated for his capacity to weave musical genres in worship and for his capacity to engage congregations of all ages and backgrounds in song, an evening with Eric is not to be missed.

CELEBRATE THE 4th WITH YOUR CHURCH FAMILY ON JULY 7! Make plans to join us for the potluck picnic right after church! The church will provide hamburgers, hot dogs, and buns (with vegetarian and gluten-free options available), as well as cold drinks. Please bring a side-dish to share, and sign-up in the narthex to let us know you are coming!

NEWSLETTER SUBMISSIONS This is the week to turn in submissions for the July Newsletter. You can do so by e-mailing Andrew (andrew-tripp@warren-wilson.edu) or calling the church office. Going forward we are trying to set a deadline of the 15th of each month for submitting newsletter items to ensure adequate time for all involved
