OFFERING Plates are just inside the doors to the chapel or scan the QR code on the back of this bulletin. Our gifts take many forms: open-hearted presence here, voices lifted in song, the prayers that rise in us, the material gifts we share with neighbors, and our willingness to live in a world as allies and advocates for those whose needs are overlooked. The monies we bring symbolize the offering of our lives in all circumstances. A separate labeled basket is available the first Sunday of the month to receive Our Daily Change offerings.

PASTOR JESSICA RIGEL’S INSTALLATION is set for September 23 at 6:00 in the Chapel and features the Rev David Black of First Presbyterian Church of Chicago. This will be an important moment for our church and we would love for everyone to be a part of it. There will be a reception in the Fellowship Hall after the installation. WALK FOR YOUR NEIGHBOR SVCM’s Walk for Your Neighbor is October 4 at Swannanoa First Baptist Church. The walk begins at 2:00 with a block party to follow! This important fundraiser for SVCM’s vital ministries is a great way to help serve and be a part of our community.

– The Crisis Ministry needs a Hairstylist/Cosmetologist: so they can offer free haircut service. Clothing Closet: Mon 12-3, Thurs 12 – 3, Fri 12 – 3. Front Desk Mon 12 – 3, Friday 12 – 3. Intake Counselor: Tue 12 – 3. Data Entry substitutes needed. Spanish Interpretation volunteers are needed that can commit to a regular schedule throughout the week to assist reception/intake with interpreting for Spanish-speaking neighbors.
– Hammer & Heart free urgent home repair program needs volunteers with relevant skillsets who are interested in being on call for projects here.
HELP WANTED Do you have a green thumb and some spare time? The Peace Garden Task Force could use some help. We have designed, created, and dedicated the John E. Koegel Peace Garden in front of the Fellowship Hall. We have come to realize, however, that the aging joints of our team are making it hard to maintain the garden over time. If you would be willing to help with routine maintenance (weeding, pruning, and watering), please notify Chrisann Ohler (chair) at drchrisann@aol.com.
