Announcements for November 1, 2026

WELCOME VISITORS If you are worshiping here for the first time today, welcome! We are glad to have you with us. Please fill out a visitor information card, located on the right as you enter the chapel, and place it in the offering plate.

OFFERING Plates are just inside the doors to the chapel or scan the QR code on the back of this bulletin. Our gifts take many forms: open-hearted presence here, voices lifted in song, the prayers that rise in us, the material gifts we share with neighbors, and our willingness to live in a world as allies and advocates for those whose needs are overlooked. The monies we bring symbolize the offering of our lives in all circumstances.

Donations for “Daily Change” are collected at WWPC on the first Sunday of each month. Please place this offering in the Red Basket on the back table near the offering plates. On the first Sunday, Mason jar banks and prayer tents are available for you to take home and place on your dining table as a reminder of the spiritual practice of feeding the hungry. If you write a check for your donation, please write “Daily Change” on the memo line. Your generosity is greatly appreciated.

COMMUNITY JOYS AND CONCERNS: If you would like to add or update a prayer request, please contact the church office.

We celebrate: The new improvement to the front doors of the chapel – better handicapped accessibility! ⸰ Toby Ives for working on the interior doors of the chapel ⸰ Donna Eagle Joslin and David Bell for coordinating and delivering goods to SVCM through Just One Can ⸰ Pastor Jess says, “Thank you for all the cards, cupcakes, and well wishes the congregation showed last week!”

We remember in prayer: The family of Jackie Cole, who passed away on October 16

DIA DE LOS MUERTOS All are welcome to attend WWC’s Dia de los Muertos service on Monday, November 2 in the Warren Wilson Chapel at 7PM. Anyone who would like to come and would like to have people remembered on the altar can bring a framed photo of their departed loved ones and if they wish, a small object or offering (barring alcoholic beverages) to place on the altar. Marigolds are also welcome as the traditional flower of the holiday.

JUST ONE CAN Will you help to feed your neighbors when you go to the grocery store? A new food drive has begun, and we are asking that every time you go to the store…you add “Just One Can” to donate to your neighbors in need. Bring it to the church on Sunday, orduring the week following your shopping trip. Place it in the blue container that you’ll see when you walk in the entryway of the church. If we all add Just One Can per week, we can provide a steady flow of compassion and sustenance to those who need it most. Contact David Ball at Ittech.ball@gmail.com, or donnaeaglejoslin@gmail.com. THANK YOU!

HELPERS NEEDED to assist Habitat for Humanity construction crews build House of Faith #6 in West Asheville. No experience is necessary. We have volunteer spaces reserved for half day shifts (8:15 – Noon) at the House of Faith #6 site on Friday, Nov. 13, and full day shifts (8:15 – 3) on Saturday, Nov. 14. Work will be indoors in heated spaces, or outdoors if weather permits. If you have questions or would like to help on these or other dates, contact Larry Griswold.

EMPTY BOWLS The WWC Community Engagement Office invites everyone to the 28th Annual Empty Bowls dinner, benefitting World of Abundance, which provides food access, education, and job skills to under-resourced people through community gardening. Dinner will be served in bowls handmade by WWC students and faculty, and all ticket holders get to take their bowls home! The event will be held Wednesday, November 18 from 6-8pm in the WWPC Fellowship Hall. Tickets are $25 for community members, and will be sold in the Narthex today and next Sunday!

THANKSGIVING POTLUCK The church is hosting a potluck at 2:00 on Thanksgiving Day.  This is an opportunity for us to provide a meal for those that might not be able to return to their families for the holiday, such as the international students.  A sign up sheet is in the narthex.
