WALK FOR YOUR NEIGHBOR is October 4 at Swannanoa First Baptist Church. The walk begins at 2:00 with a block party to follow! There is a one mile and a 2+ mile option. COLLEGE VIEW OBSERVATORY OPEN HOUSE with Don Collins. On Friday, September 18, 2026 at 8:00 PM all interested people are invited to the Collins’ at 138 College View Dr to view planets, nebulae, distant galaxies, and star clusters. These objects will be instantly photographed with a CCD astronomical camera and the images viewed on a monitor. The planets – Venus and Saturn – will be viewed visually directly with a telescope. The deep sky objects will be viewed with the CCD camera on the 14” telescope. Come for some astronomical treats and learn about these mysterious objects in the sky. Visit collegeviewobservatory.blogspot.com for up-to-date information on weather conditions. If cloudy, the observing will be scheduled for the following evening.
HABITAT FOR HUMANITY Hydeia Beck, future owner of Asheville Habitat for Humanity House of Faith #6, will visit us for a Moment for Mission at the Sept. 27 service. We will receive a special offering to help with materials for the house and any donation helps. Ways to contribute: 1) through our church website (click Give Online button – top right corner), 2) by check with “Habitat offering” written on the memo line and put in an offering plate or mailed to the church office, or 3) by Qualified Charitable Distribution from an IRA or check from a Donor Advised Gift Fund sent to the Church office and designated for “Habitat Offering”.
ADULT EDUCATION CLASS The Adult Education Class has resumed on Sundays 9:15-10:15, in the Adult Ed. Classroom. We are discussing “The Great Search” by John Philip Newell. Even if you haven’t been reading, please come anyway. The themes are universal enough for everyone to be able to participate and benefit from the discussion. We look forward to welcoming you to our new study when we “turn to earth and soul in the quest for healing and home”.
