Welcome Rev. Margaret LaMotte Torrence!

The Transition Team (Janice Collins, Jamie Dale, Rodney Lytle and Dennis Stockdale) and the Session are very pleased to announce that Rev. Margaret LaMotte Torrence will join Warren Wilson Presbyterian Church as our Transitional Pastor and Head of Staff on January 1, 2024.

Rev. Torrence is looking forward to preaching for the first time at Warren Wilson PC for Epiphany Sunday on January 7.

Her experience as a Transitional or Interim Pastor spans many years of her 23 year career of Presbyterian pastoral service, having been the Interim Pastor at four Presbyterian churches, including First Presbyterian Church of Sarasota, FL, University Presbyterian Church of Chapel Hill, NC, Black Mountain Presbyterian Church, and First Presbyterian Church of Plainsboro, NJ.

She also served as Associate Pastor for Pastoral Care at First Presbyterian Church, Asheville, for eleven years. She has served on a number of Presbytery of WNC committees and as an instructor in the Presbytery’s Church Leadership School and School for the Laity. She is currently the co-moderator of the Presbytery’s Examinations Committee.

Rev. Torrence received her Masters in Divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary (where she and Steve were classmates) and her Bachelor of Arts from Davidson College. She lives nearby in Swannanoa with her husband and parents.

We believe God has truly blessed our church in sending us Margaret to lead us through this interim period.  We believe you will feel the same way when you have the chance to meet her in person!
