OFFERING Plates are just inside the doors to the chapel or scan the QR code on the back of this bulletin. Our gifts take many forms: open-hearted presence here, voices lifted in song, the prayers that rise in us, the material gifts we share with neighbors, and our willingness to live in a world as allies and advocates for those whose needs are overlooked. The monies we bring symbolize the offering of our lives in all circumstances. A separate labeled basket is available each week to receive Our Daily Change offerings.

PASTOR JESSICA RIGEL’S INSTALLATION is set for September 23 at 6:00 in the Chapel and features the Rev David Black of First Presbyterian Church of Chicago. This will be an important moment for our church and we would love for everyone to be a part of it. There will be a reception in the Fellowship Hall after the installation. OUR DAILY CHANGE The Daily Change offering will be received today. This offering was formerly known as the Nickel a Meal offering, part of the PCUSA Hunger Program. Place your offering in the Daily Change Red Basket on the offering table in the rear of the sanctuary. Your generosity is greatly appreciated. This offering is collected on the first Sunday of every month. Mason jar banks and tent prayers are available on the back table for you to pick up and put on your dining table. Please use these as reminders of the spiritual practice of feeding the hungry.

- The Crisis Ministry needs a Hairstylist/Cosmetologist: so they can offer free haircut service. Clothing Closet: Mon 12-3, Thurs 12 – 3, Fri 12 – 3. Front Desk Mon 12 – 3, Friday 12 – 3. Intake Counselor: Tue 12 – 3. Data Entry substitutes needed. Spanish Interpretation volunteers are needed that can commit to a regular schedule throughout the week to assist reception/intake with interpreting for Spanish-speaking neighbors.
- Hammer & Heart free urgent home repair program needs volunteers with relevant skillsets who are interested in being on call for projects here.
HABITAT FOR HUMANITY Hydeia Beck, future owner of Asheville Habitat for Humanity House of Faith #6, will visit us for a Moment for Mission at the Sept. 27 service. We will receive a special offering to help with materials for the house and any donation helps. Ways to contribute: 1) through our church website (click Give Online button – top right corner), 2) by check with “Habitat offering” written on the memo line and put in an offering plate or mailed to the church office, or 3) by Qualified Charitable Distribution from an IRA or check from a Donor Advised Gift Fund sent to the Church office and designated for “Habitat Offering”.
ADULT EDUCATION CLASS The Adult Education Class has its first fall session on Sunday, 9/13 from 9:15-10:15, in the Adult Ed. Classroom. We will be discussing “The Great Search” by John Philp Newell. Please read the Introduction and Chapter 1 in advance of our first class. If you haven’t ordered your book in time, no worries. Come anyway. The themes are universal enough for everyone to be able to participate and benefit from the discussion. We look forward to welcoming you to our new study when we “turn to earth and soul in the quest for healing and home”.
CHANGE HAPPENS How do you go about dealing with change?
Remember the joke “how many Presbyterians does it take to change a light bulb?” Answer: “One to change it and 11 to form a bulb-changing committee.” But change is no joke. Change will come. The question is how to prepare for it.
